Little Sally learns her best friend's goldfish has made a permanent move to "heaven" and questions abound. For some parents, questions about the geography of faith rank right up there with "Where do babies come from?". For other families, both questions may actually be the same discussion. Ms. Russell's book is a funny (but respectful) and thoughtful guide for parents who want to support children's interest in religion but consider themselves to be atheists, secular or just incommunicado with the God of their understanding. There is a "cheat sheet" to World Religions and she acknowledges it is incomplete but includes the major faith players. I particularly appreciated the discussion on religious baggage and Russell's exploration of the Golden Rule. For Russell, love and tolerance are timeless concepts children can learn no matter where parents fall - if at all - on the faith spectrum.
